File Setup Guidelines

Please review this page as you prepare your files for print.

File Types

We prefer PDF vector files, but we accept a variety of file types for custom jobs.

For web store orders, only PDFs, JPGs, and PNGs are accepted. If you’d like to place a web store order but don’t have access to the required file type, please contact us for assistance.

Here’s the full list of accepted file types (please note some jobs may have specific file requirements):

  • Adobe PDFs (.pdf)
  • Adobe Illustrator (.ai)
  • Adobe Photoshop (.psd)
  • EPS (.eps)
  • JPG/JPEG (.jpg, .jpeg)
  • PNG (.png)
  • TIFF (.tiff)

Resolution

All print files must have a minimum resolution of 300 dpi (dots per inch) at the desired print size.

To calculate the resolution of your files at the desired print size, divide the number of pixels in the file by the corresponding number of inches. Or, to determine the maximum print size for your files, divide the number of pixels by 300 (do this for both width and height).

For example, an image that’s 1800px x 1200px can be printed at a maximum size of 6” x 4” while maintaining a resolution of 300dpi (1800 pixels divided by 300 equals 6, and 1200 pixels divided by 300 equals 4).

To print an image at a size of 11” x 17”, the pixel dimensions of the image should be at least 3300px x 5100px.

If you only have access to lower-resolution files, or you’re having trouble determining the resolution of your files, please contact us for assistance. Lower-resolutions files may be ok for some projects, especially for larger print sizes.

CMYK, RGB, or PMS?

As a general rule of thumb, we ask that you submit all files in CMYK color. That said, some projects may require different color modes. If this applies to your project, we’ll be sure to let you know.
